About Woopets

“A vocation is when your passion becomes your job.” These words by Stendhal sum up how Woopets began — although, to be completely accurate, “passion” should really be plural.

Anthony Pruvost and his dog Oria

Anthony Pruvost, President of Digistart, the company that publishes Woopets, has loved animals since early childhood — he has always lived with dogs and cats — and the web just as much. Born in 1991, he built his first websites and wrote his first lines of code at the age of 12. Even then, he dreamed of bringing his two passions together.

At just 21, after finishing his computer science studies, he founded his own web agency. The following year, in 2013, he launched Chien.fr, a specialist website dedicated to dogs, which quickly became a real success, with almost a million visitors a month.

In 2018, Chien.fr merged with Woopets, founded ten years earlier, to create a single, high-quality platform for ALL pets. At a time when the internet was becoming everyone’s main source of information, there were surprisingly few reliable reference resources about pets online. That is how the Woopets idea was born: to offer every owner and admirer of pets a trustworthy source of information, with content checked by professionals.

Woopets UK is our English-language edition. It brings you the latest news about dogs and cats — rescues, heart-warming stories, surprising facts and practical information — for readers in the United Kingdom and beyond.

A team of pet lovers, and content checked by professionals

To carry out this exciting mission, several authors, all recognised in their field, share their expert advice through practical guides and breed profiles. Articles on Woopets are signed by:

  • → 3 consultant veterinary surgeons
  • → 2 dog trainers and behaviourists
  • → 1 veterinary care assistant
  • → 1 horse expert
  • → 1 rodent expert
  • → 1 fish expert
  • → 1 animal law specialist

All of these experts share well-informed advice on the health, diet and well-being of dogs, cats, rodents and reptiles.
They work alongside specialist writers who cover pet news every day and write detailed profiles of your favourite breeds and species.

Around them, a behind-the-scenes team keeps the website running smoothly. It helps Woopets grow every day while keeping it accessible and easy to use, and is made up of:

  • → 2 web developers
  • → 1 editor-in-chief
  • → 1 graphic and web designer
  • → 1 community manager

That’s right: it takes all of these people to bring a website to life!

As you will have gathered, Woopets is above all a human-sized project, driven by the wish to share its love of animals and to help you take good care of them.

Woopets: a pet-friendly company

The Woopets team at work

It is impossible to tell the story of Woopets without mentioning the latest arrival in the team: Oria, the Woopets mascot.

Anthony adopted this little Australian Shepherd in January 2019. Naturally, the Woopets offices in Arras are pet-friendly, and Oria joins the team almost every working day. Everyone is happy to look after her, with play sessions and walks during breaks — but Oria is still the only one allowed to take plenty of naps…
